The Badgers showed perseverance and got a comeback win.
The Brock women’s volleyball team battled in close sets, but claimed victory at the Goldring Centre in Toronto to the Varsity Blues 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 20-25, 15-13) on Saturday, Nov. 9.
Fourth-year right side Sadie Dick led the Badgers in kills with 13 and 21 total points, with fourth-year outside hitter Laurin Ainsworth right behind her, registering 12 kills.
In the first set, the Badgers took a quick 7-1 lead in the set helping prevail them to an opening set win.
The Varsity Blues held a 19-11 lead in the second set when the Badgers showed their persistence falling just short 25-23.
Trailing by five points in the third set 15-10, the Badgers scored five straight points to push it to an exciting finish but ultimately fell 25-20.
In the fourth set, the Badgers tied the match up with a 25-18 set win to set up a fifth and deciding set.
With it all on the line, the Badgers won the decisive set 15-13 thanks to blocks from Emma Baruchelli and Mackenna Knox to split the weekend series.
Brock bested Toronto with a .192 hitting percentage compared to their .108.
Ainsworth once again led the Badgers in digs with 18, while Knox notched a game-high 52 assists.
