Brock fell short in a matchup featuring nationally ranked opponents.
The No. 10 Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-10, 18-25, 7-25, 15-25) contest against the No. 6 Queen’s Gaels on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Brock’s Emily Foest and Queen’s’ Amanda Siksna led all players with 13 points, with Foest’s coming from 12 kills and one ace. Mackenna Knox recorded a game-high 24 assists in the contest.
The Badgers got off to a strong start, fueled by four kills and one block from Sadie Dick, which saw them take the first set in commanding fashion by a score of 25-10.
The second set proved to be a different game, featuring much more back-and-forth action before the Gaels were able to pull away and take it 25-18.
Riding the momentum created in the previous set, Queen’s got off to an early lead in the third and didn’t look back, taking the set 25-7.
The fourth set featured much of the same, as an early Gaels lead saw the Badgers on their back foot for most of the action, taking the fourth 25-15 for the victory.
The Gaels delivered a .255 hitting percentage while the Badgers possessed a .115 on the day.
Up next, the Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team will travel to Toronto to take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday, Nov. 8 at 5:30 p.m. The last time these two teams met, the Badgers were victorious by a score of 3-1 (25-16, 25-14, 18-25, 25-17) on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022.
