WINNIPEG — Manitoba kept pace with Brandon on Saturday at IGAC, but the visitors went on key runs when it counted in a 3-0 win to improve to 3-5. Manitoba also fell to 3-5.
In the first set, Brandon went on a 14-8 run to take the lead for good, doing the same in set two, out-scoring Manitoba 15-3 in a 25-16 set win. The same could be said in the third, when Brandon broke a 16-16 tie, scoring nine of the next 11 points in a 25-18 win to close the game out in three.
Manitoba got a game-high six kills from Kai Boyko, who their seven aces as a team improved their total to 75, which continues to lead the nation. Individually, Karil Dadash Adeh’s 21aces are the most in the country.
Boyko’s 53 digs are fourth second in Canda West, while libero Josh Jehle’s 54 are third overall.
Manitoba faces Saskatchewan on the road next weekend.
