NORTH BAY, ON – The Nipissing Lakers hosted the Western Mustangs on Saturday afternoon, where they faced off in a thrilling match. Still, despite the Mustangs’ consistent effort, they fell to the Lakers, 3-1.
The first set was a close match, with the Lakers scoring with the first kill of the game. However, the Mustangs quickly caught up, with Nip opening 4-1 before they managed to tie it up at seven each.
The game remained close, within two or so points throughout the set.
Following this, the Mustangs called a timeout as the Lakers managed to pull up to 16-11 to help slow them down, but unfortunately, the Lakers went on to win the set 25-14.

Western fell in the first set to the Nipissing Lakers, after a close score throughout most of the set, they lost 25-14.
The second set saw the Mustangs fighting back, with Nipissing scoring the first point of the set, which was immediately returned by the Mustangs, leaving the score even at 1-1 again, a common theme throughout the match.
Although UWO pulled ahead to 7-4, Nipissing managed to slow the ‘Stangs down, bringing the score back to 8-8. The set was incredibly close again, with scores going back and forth and being within one point for most of the set.
The Mustangs took the second set to tie the match at 25-22.
The third set saw the Mustangs open powerfully, going up 6-0 before Nipissing called a timeout. However, despite starting out strong, the Mustangs slowed down on the attack.
The lead was passed back and forth until the final plays of the set, where Nipissing managed to pull ahead and win this set 25-21, putting them at 2-1 against Western.

The Lakers took the third set despite the Mustangs having a strong start. The home team now improves to 2-1 against Western with their 25-21 win.
In the fourth set, the game was played within less than five points for the entire time, with Nipissing beginning to pull ahead and hold the lead going up 17-12.
The Mustangs called a timeout as Nipissing took a 19-13 lead. Nipissing went up 20-14 as the fourth set began to enter its conclusion, and the Mustangs fought hard to stay in it.
The Lakers went up 22-14 as Western tried to fend off Nipissing from scoring the match-winning point. However, the Lakers ultimately took the fourth and final set 25-18, winning the match three sets to the Mustangs’ one.

Despite a hard fought battle, the Mustangs fell to the Nipissing Lakers in the fourth set 25-18 giving them the win in the fourth set.
