Camosun Chargers @ COTR Avalanche – Friday January 19, 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
This will be a dandy as the Avalanche entertain the Chargers this weekend with eight points separating them in the standings.
The Avalanche hung onto the #1 ranking in the CCAA despite splitting last weekend at Douglas. Their five-set loss in the second match snapped their 10-match winning streak and was just their second setback on the campaign. They are back at home for the rest of the month beginning this Friday when the Chargers come to town.
In their first meeting the Avalanche completed a pair of three-set clean sweeps in Victoria on October 21 and 22nd.
The Chargers on the other hand haven’t played since November 25th following a bye last weekend. Heading into the holiday break they had won four-straight and will try to recapture that momentum this weekend. Surprisingly they have a very light month of January, playing only two weekends and have two matches in hand as they try and track down the first place Avs.

Douglas Royals @ VIU Mariners – Friday January 19, 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
This is another exciting match set for this weekend on the Island with just four points separating them in the standings.
The Mariners will play their first match of the second semester after a bye last weekend and currently sit in second place in the PACWEST standings, six points back of first. Heading into the holiday break they caught fire and won six straight matches, not losing in November. They will face a Royals team that beat them twice in October which was also the last time they lost a match. They fell in four and three sets respectively which included one set finishing 33-35.
Speaking of the Royals they hit the road after an important split with the COTR Avalanche last weekend. They will try to tighten their grip on the final playoff spot, two points up on the idle CBC Bearcats. This is their only road trip of the month and will be in tough against the Mariners who are back at home for the first time since November 11th. They have struggled on the road at 1-5 but they will no doubt draw on their weekend sweep of the Mariners from back in October.
