Week 6 of the men’s volleyball season opens as the Mariners and Bearcats meet for the first time this year. This is an important match-up for both teams as the Mariners are trying to keep pace with the front running COTR Avalanche and the Bearcats are two points back of third place.
The Mariners have been on a tear lately, winning their last four matches, three of which in a fifth and deciding set. This team has already proven they can win in a pressure filled environment. They stay on the road after a sweep last weekend at Capilano.
Conversely the Bearcats have lost four straight and are searching for answers this month, averaging less than a set win in each of their last four matches. They will finish the first half of the season with back-to-back showdowns with the Mariners.
Douglas Royals @ Camosun Chargers – Friday November 24, 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
A pair of 4-4 teams go head-to-head this weekend at PISE when the Royals visit the Chargers.
After a hot month in October, the Royals have cooled off here in November, winning once in four matches but are coming off their bye week. That said, two of their setbacks came in the fifth set at COTR, one of which was a 20-18 loss. They are playing well, but still need to find a way to finish off teams. They are on the road this weekend with a 1-3 record away from Douglas.
The Chargers have played two more matches then the Royals this month and have won four of their last six. They are coming off a sweep last weekend at CBC and are starting to hit their stride. They are finally back at home after playing their last six on the road and haven’t been in front of their home fans since October 22nd. Believe it or not they still don’t have a home win this season.
