On Saturday evening, Queen’s Men’s Volleyball rematched the York Lions. The Gaels fell in four sets (19-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-19).
Lachlan McBride (Law) and Reed Venning (Arts & Science) led in points for Queen’s. McBride nabbed 16 points with 15kills and Venning added 14points from 11 kills.
The Gaels struggled on offense through the first set, picking up early attack errors. As they ironed out their offense, the Lions pulled ahead and took the set.
York also pulled ahead early in the second set, developing a lead that the Gaels couldn’t touch despite big swings from McBride and Nikola Mitrovic (Economics).
Through the third, the Gaels tidied up their performance at the net and from the service line. They went point for point with the Lions and finished on top, securing the set.
The Gaels maintained their momentum into the fourth and developed a four-point lead. The Lions had victory in sight and fought back hard; they closed the gap and took their final set.
Through out the match, Chris Zimmerman (Arts) and Tobias Jeffries (Engineering) anchored the Gaels on defense, adding 13and nine digs respectively.
Men’s Volleyball returns home to the ARC next weekend to take on the Toronto Varsity Blues at 8pm on Friday, Nov. 29, and 4pm on Saturday, Nov. 30. Tickets are available on the Queen’s ticket website.
