MEN’S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS WIN, LOSE FIVE-SET THRILLER TO TMU ON THE ROAD

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team played a lot of volleyball this past weekend as they took on the TMU Bold.

The Lakers came up with a big 3-0 win Friday night, then fell in a five-set marathon, 3-2, Saturday to close out the weekend.

Nipissing dominated the first night, winning 25-13, 25-20 and 25-21, claiming the sweep.

Tyrus Cuculick led the Lakers offence with 12 kills, while Justice Smith added eight in the contest.

In the second contest of the weekend, the Lakers fought and had chances to win, but came up just short in a great match.

Nipissing won the first two sets, claiming 25-20 and 25-23 victories, but the Bold stormed back to win three straight.

They claimed wins of 25-13, 25-17 and 15-13, sneaking out the fifth set and the match.

Smith led the Lakers with 15 kills, Trent O’Brien had 13 and Cuculick added 11 in the contest.

Nipissing is back home next weekend, hosting the Queen’s Gaels for a pair of matches.
