Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team had high hopes heading into a tough weekend on the road.
Nipissing faced the undefeated McMaster Marauders for a pair of matches in Hamilton on the weekend and came up short in both matchups, falling 3-1 both Friday and Saturday.
Friday, to begin the weekend, the Lakers fell in four sets, 25-19, 25-18, winning the third 25-20, before dropping the fourth, 25-19 to wrap up the match.
Jeremie Murray led the Lakers attack with 12 kills and 16 points, while Jackson Young added 11 kills and 13.5 points in the contest.
On Saturday, things were very similar with the Marauders taking the opening two sets before the Lakers replied with a win in the third.
McMaster put the match away in the fourth to take the win.
The Marauders wins were 25-23, 25-19 and 25-20, while Nipissing’s win in the third set was 25-21.
Jackson Young led the way with 12 kills and 17 points, while Tyrus Cuculick added 11 kills and 13.5 points in the match.
Nipissing wraps up the first half of the season with a pair of matches against Waterloo next weekend on the road.
