Box Score Coming off a tough five-set loss Friday night, the Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team was looking to bounce back Saturday in their second match of the weekend.
The Lakers once again hosted the Waterloo Warriors, looking to avenge the loss in the weekend’s opening contest.
In dominant fashion, the Lakers came away with their first win of the season, sweeping the Warriors 3-0 to split the weekend.
Nipissing didn’t mess around early on.
They came out flying, jumping out to an early lead and cruised to a 25-11 win to set the tone.
They didn’t slow down in the second set either, leading most of the way and holding a 19-17 advantage late in the game.
From there, they closed things out, winning 25-21 to take a strangle hold on the match.
Making short work of the match, the Lakers had to battle in the third set, but took care of business, winning 25-22 to sweep Waterloo.
Justice Smith led the way with 10 kills for the Lakers, while Marc Marchand had eight and Tyrus Cuculick added seven in the victory.
The Lakers hit the road next weekend, heading to Toronto for a pair of matches against the Varsity Blues.
Nipissing hits the court both Friday and Saturday at 6pm.
