The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team fell 3-0 in their rematch with the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday (Nov. 25) evening at the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House.
Set scores in the match were 20-25, 21-25, 23-25.
After an impressive performance in their first matchup, outside hitter Hunter Arulpragasam led the Blues offensively with nine points, finishing the game with nine kills. Just behind him was the pair of Nic Silon and Joshua Chapman, who recorded seven points each. Through three sets, Silon had four kills, one service ace and one block, while Chapman finished with six kills and one block.
Setters Davis Young and Michael Hickey set up the Blues offence against Nipissing. Young finished the game with 16 assists, while Hickey recorded 13.
For the Lakers, Justice Smith led the way, recording a game-high 18.5 points with 17 kills and three block assists. Jack Svendsen finished with a game-high 41 assists.
Looking ahead, the Blues will face off against the York Lions on Sunday, Dec. 3. First serve is set for 3 p.m. All the action can be caught online via oua.tv.
