PETERBOROUGH – The Brock Badgers men’s volleyball team concluded their season with a 3-1 victory over the Trent Excalibur in Peterborough on Sunday afternoon. Set scores in the regular season finale were 25-20, 25-22, 18-25, 25-19.
Following a tough first half of the season, the Badgers rebounded down the stretch concluding their 2022-23 campaign with a five match win streak, finishing the year with an 8-12 record overall.
In their second match of a final doubleheader versus Trent, the Badgers offence came to life as they tallied 102 total attacks through the four set contest. Delivering the epitome of efficiency in the middle, Jacob Ferland converted 11 of his 13 total attacks, finishing with 15 total points as he added three aces and two block assists.
Meanwhile, recording a game-high 16.5 points for the Badgers, second-year standout Kylar Code tallied 12 kills, three aces, one solo block, and 1 block assist. Code finishes the year as the top service performer in the province leading all OUA athletes in total aces and aces per set.
The double-digit performances for the Badgers was rounded out by KJ Robinson who notched 10 kills and one solo block for 11 total points. Robinson also led Brock defensively with a game-high nine digs.
Splitting time at the setter position, Grant Reddon tallied 11 assists for Brock, while second-year Nolan Shapcott added 14 in two sets of action.
Ryan Austin and Evan Burke both registered 10 points for the Excalibur in the loss.
The Badgers now enter the offseason with only one graduating senior and expectations of continued growth from a young exciting nucleus of talent heading into 2023-24.
