Fresh off a fourth straight trip to the playoffs, the men’s volleyball team has added even more local talent, announcing the signing of top provincial setter Travis Schroeder.

The 6’4″, 175-pound MBCI product is a former Athlete of the Year for the Hawks. This past year he was also selected to Volleyball Canada’s National Excellence Program (NEP). The NEP is designed to prepare top local athletes to perform at the highest level of the sport and to continue their development towards the National Senior Team Program and or playing professional volleyball.

Additionally, Schroeder won a JV boys provincial championship in 2021-22, and was a 17U club all-star for WinMan Volleyball club in 2023.

In the classroom Schroeder holds an academic average of 96 percent (first class honour roll student).

“I chose UM due to it’s history of academic and athletic success, great coaching staff and very talented team,” he said.

“I am honoured to join the Bisons. I look forward to competing for the chance to bring a national championship back to Manitoba.”
