October 19, 2022: Effectively immediately, Ben Josephson will no longer serve as head coach of the Volleyball Canada’s men’s indoor program.
Volleyball Canada thanks Josephson for his hard work and dedication to the program in the last year and wishes him continued success in his coaching career.
Josephson had been on leave from the head coaching position at Trinity Western University where he won National titles in 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017 and 2019, and qualified for the U SPORTS championship tournament 11 times. Josephson also led the Spartans to five Canada West championships, winning in 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020, which includes TWU’s run of nine straight appearances in the conference final.
Team Canada finished 17th at the recent Men’s Volleyball World Championship, after being eliminated in the first round of the competition. The team, currently ranked 15th in the world, is looking to improve its ranking and results on the road to Paris 2024. The men’s team is based in Gatineau, Quebec.
Julien Boucher, indoor team high performance director, said: “We thank Ben for his work with the team in the last year. The level of competition on the world stage is very high and it’s been a challenging year for the team. More information on coaching staff will be released as the head coaching position is finalized.”
