Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week: Clara Poiré, McGill

Poiré, a right-side hitter, played a key role in guiding McGill to victories over Ottawa (3-0) and Montreal (3-2) last weekend. Over her eight sets played during the weekend, the 24-year-old senior scored 27.5 points, on the strength of 20 kills, one service ace and 6.5 blocks. She added one assist and 18 digs on defense.
Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week: Isaiah Olfert, Winnipeg

Olfert, a fourth-year outside hitter, led the Winnipeg Wesmen to a Week 2 sweep of the defending national champions. On Friday, in a four-set win over Trinity Western that snapped a nine-match losing streak to the Spartans, Olfert had 10 kills on 17 attacks with just two errors while adding two aces, two block assists, and two digs. The next night, in a stirring Wesmen comeback, Olfert had a team-high 18 kills with four errors on 32 swings, while adding another ace and seven digs. For the weekend, Olfert hit .449 amassing just five errors on 49 swings.
