Manitoban Megan Cyr has announced her retirement from the women’s national volleyball team.
Cyr was born and raised in St. Andrew’s, Manitoba and attended Lord Selkirk Regional Secondary School before attending the University of Colorado on an athletic scholarship. After two years with Colorado, she transferred to North Carolina State University for her remaining two years or eligibility.
Megan was a staple in Volleyball Canada’s player pathway for a decade. She was a member of the youth and junior national teams before officially joining the senior team in 2011. She played 86 international matches, helping Canada earn a gold medal at the 2019 Challenger Cup and bronze medals at the 2018 Pan-American Cup and the 2019 NORCECA Champions Cup.
We wish Megan the best of luck as she completes her education degree at Ambrose College and is part of the women’s volleyball team coaching staff.

Manitobans Alicia Ogoms (Winnipeg) and Cassie Bujan (Anola) were named to the Women’s National team’s first-ever Volleyball Nation’s League team that will be competing in a ‘bubble’ format in Italy beginning May 25, 2021.
