After winning the first set of the game 25-20, the York University Lions men’s volleyball team would then drop the next three to the No. 2 nationally ranked McMaster Marauders, fallijng 3-1 Saturday night at the Tait McKenzie Centre.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions came out of the first set with a .526 kill percentage, by far the highest of either team in any set in the match.
Andrew Tauhid led the Lions with 22 points, with Shaun Shonert not too far behind, hitting double digits with 12 points.
Tauhid also came up with a team-leading seven digs in the contest, on the evening he was honoured for scoring his 1,000th career OUA point the weekend prior in Guelph.
LOOKING AHEAD
Even though the Lions dropped this contest, they have now secured home court advantage through Queen’s losing back-to-back games to Brock. Now, the lowest York can finish is fourth — pending on their results against the Windsor Lancers on Friday, Feb. 17 and Saturday, Feb. 18.
