Box Score The York Lions University men’s volleyball team prevailed in an impressive performance on the road against the Trent Excalibur. York won three straight sets to seal a statement victory. Andrew Tauhid led the team in kills with 20 as well as assists with 31.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tauhid, Alex Dorling and Shaun Shonert had notable offensive performances for York in the first set to take an early lead in the game. A service error from Trent won the set for York 25-19.
- Several service errors from the Excalibur cost them the lead in the midway point of the second set. Shonert and Luke De Greeff built up the lead to take the set away from the Excalibur. Despite a late Trent rally, Tauhid recorded a kill, which sealed a York win in the second set 25-20.
- Despite an early lead from Trent, kills from Dorling and Tauhid kept the Lions in the lead, but Trent weren’t ready to let the game end. Trent went on to score three consecutive points to take the lead and ended up winning the set 25-22 with York committing a service error to end the set. That made the score 2-1.
- York handily beat Trent in the final set, scoring 15 unanswered points. Noah Halladay scored the kill to win York the game, The set ended 25-10 in a Lions rout.
LOOKING AHEAD
York will hope to keep up this form when they head to Guelph, Ont. to face the Gryphons at 3 pm Saturday afternoon.
