LIONS CLOSE OUT SEASON WITH GRAD GAME AGAINST MARAUDERS

As the final game of the season is in sight against the McMaster Marauders, the Lions are aiming to cap their season on a high note after two losses to the Windsor Lancers last weekend, snapping a four-game winning streak. Along with Saturday nights season finale, the Lions will celebrate their four graduating players, Brooklyn Parliament, Jordyn Sealock, Alisa Trubyuk and Jessica Reynolds

The Lions headed to Windsor for a weekend series against the Lancers. On Friday evening, Madison Shanks led the pack with 13 kills while Jessica Reynolds had 17 digs. Hanging right with the Lancers throughout all three sets, the Lions were unable to close out with a victory, falling 25-22, 25-22, and 25-21. 

Back in action on Saturday evening, the Lions pushed the game into five sets, taking sets two and three by a generous lead, but the Lancers battled back. Megan McDonald was a player of the night for the team as she led the Lions with 49 assists, a season high, as Amarai Endes charged ahead with 16 kills. The opening set battled back-and-forth, with the Lancers gaining a lead but York closed in 24-22, eventually pushing the game into extra points before Windsor took the decider, 27-25. York came out flying the next two sets to tie the game 1-1, before taking the third set and leading 2-1. The Lancers responded in set four but the Lions were right there with them, and the game was all tied 2-2 needing set five. Windsor carried with their momentum taking a quick lead, and eventually got the 15-11 set five win, earning a 3-2 victory on the evening.

#14 MEGAN MCDONALD: Third-year setter… A strong setter for York, she has played in 19 matches and 73 sets, recording 539 assists, the fourth most in OUA, for 7.38 assists per set… Over the weekend against the Windsor Lancers, she recorded 85 assists, setting a seasons high on Feb. 10, with 49, while reaching 36 assists the evening before.

#10 AMARAI ENDES: Third-year middle… Playing in 19 matches and 74 sets this season, she is fourth in the OUA in block assist (39) and block total (65), recording 59 digs… Offensively she has been a big part of the Lions with 148 kills for 2.00 kills per set and a .392 hitting percentage while tallying 13 assists and 210.5 points… On Feb. 10 against the Windsor Lancers, she tied her seasons high total attack (26), while setting a seasons high 16 kills and 21.5 points.
