The York University Lions men’s volleyball team embarked on a journey to Kingston to face off against the Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins. With playoffs in sight, this encounter bore critical importance for the team’s aspirations as they aimed to clinch their fifth victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lions dominated the Paladins in the first set, ending with a commanding 25-10 victory. It showcased exceptional skill and teamwork, highlighted by Jasraj Nijjar’s phenomenal serving performance. Alex Ko and Daniel Lafleur exhibited outstanding effort and skill, contributing significantly to York’s impressive win. Their precision and dedication on the court were commendable, setting the tone for the rest of the match and getting the overall game up 1-0.
The second set saw standout contributions from Alex Dorling, Ko, and Lafleur. Their combined effort and synergy on the court were instrumental in maintaining York’s momentum and securing another impressive win, 25-13, bringing them up 2-0 in the overall match.
In the third set, the hosts showed some momentum and got closer than in previous sets. Ko made significant contributions with 10 kills by the end of the last set, showcasing his offensive prowess. Additionally, Richard Housen Jr made his presence felt with 2 kills, further bolstering York’s performance and highlighting their depth of talent. The third set ended 25-17, providing the Lions sweep 3-0 over the Paladins.
