STATS Yaila Sealy led the Lancers with 14 kills and two aces, while Aryn Markett contributed ten kills and three blocks. Seniors Hewick and Davis would also have a big day, with Hewick leading the team in digs (26) and Davis leading the squad in assists (34).
GAME FLOW
After a back-and-forth start, the Lancers started to gain momentum as play from Phills, Davis, and Sealy gave the Lancers a 5-point lead. Lakehead had a few good plays that kept them in the game, but Windsor would break away after the technical time out to win the set 25-14.
The second set started with both teams tied up at four. This wouldn’t last long however as stellar play from Campbell and Markett helped pull the Lancers ahead with a huge run. The Thunderwolves would show their resilience by cutting away at the Lancers lead. A Megan Gahmia spike would be a turning point as it proved to be a momentum booster, getting the fans, the bench, and the women on the court hyped up. A last-ditch effort by Lakehead would come up short, with the Lancers taking the second set with the same 25-14 score.
The Lancers would take an early 8-3 lead over the Thunderwolves to start the third set, forcing a Lakehead timeout. The two squads would go blow for blow midway through the set, with Lakehead eventually gaining a lead. The Lancers would battle their way back into the game, tying the game up at 20-20. The Lancers would complete the set by winning the thrilling set 27-25.
