As announced by Volleyball Canada on Thursday, York University Lions men’s volleyball players Robert Kemp and Luke de Greeff have been named to the national Summer NextGen Beach team.
Kemp, who enters his second year of eligibility in 2024-25, was an important piece for the Lions in 2023-24. He started all 20 matches at libero for York, and was the only first-year Lion to accomplish that feat. Kemp finished 19th in the OUA in digs last season with 106 and 14th in digs per set at 1.77.
De Greeff, a former Lions captain and newly-appointed assistant coach, did not play in 2023-24 while recovering from an injury sustained in the 2023 postseason. He has been training with the NextGen team since January, and will embark on a master’s degree in psychology in the fall.
The team, led by York assistant coach Josh Nichol will train in Toronto from now through August.
