The Canadian setter Byron Keturakis had his debut in Bundesliga.
Even though his team didn’t have a good start, playing and losing against Friedrichshafen, he is expecting a good season in a jersey of Netzoppers.
You are playing in Germany right now. What are your impressions about the club and country?
“I’ve had a really great impression of the club and Germany as a whole so far. The club is filled with great people and we’re very ambitious about the upcoming season.”
This is your second time playing overseas. What do you expect in the season 2020/2021?
“I expect and hope for a lot of tough games and big challenges. I am looking forward to this season and hope it’s going to be a successful one.”
Coronavirus might stop any team at any moment. How difficult is to play knowing this fact?
“It is not necessarily more difficult, but it is something to be aware of. We’ll have to adapt to whatever situation we get.”
What is the difference between volleyball in Canada and volleyball in Europe?
“There’s only university volleyball in Canada, so the expectation is different for professional volleyball in Europe.”
Why did you decide to play as a setter?
“I enjoy being a setter because I get to put my teammates in a position to succeed. I really like having a part in their success. That’s what ”
What does one player need to do to become an excellent setter?
“I think a lot of excellent setters aren’t only great technically but are also great teammates. It’s kind of the ultimate servant leader position.”
What are your goals in volleyball?
“My biggest goal right now is to have a successful season with the Netzoppers. And eventually, I would love to represent Canada at an Olympic Games.”
