SASKATOON— The University of Saskatchewan Huskies women’s volleyball team (6-1) started off 2022 with a straight-set 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-14) victory over Brandon Bobcats (4-3) at the PAC Friday night.
In their first action since November 27, the Huskies looked like a team that had not had over a month break – hitting an impressive .329 with 34 kills and 5 aces.
This win extended the Huskies victory streak to 6 games, which leaves them sitting at the top of the Canada West East Division.
Emily Koshinsky had a game-high 16 kills for Saskatchewan, while Julia Howell Bourner had game-high three blocks. Third year Huskie Olivia Mattern led both teams with 11 digs. The Dogs were dominant defensively, posting 6 of the games 7 blocks.
The Bobcats battled through all three sets almost catching the Huskies off guard in the opening frame. Kaoane Loch led Brandon with 11 kills, while Jamie Bain recording 28 assists in Friday night’s action.
Brandon finished the game with a .152 kill percentage.
The Huskies will be back in action Saturday, January 15th at 3:00pm, where they will take on the Brandon Bobcats again at the PAC.
