Holland College has been named host of the 2021 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Volleyball National Championship.
The Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) institution will host the event in Charlottetown, PE, from March 10-13, 2021. All matches will take place at Holland’s Centre for Community Engagement (CCE).
“Holland College is no stranger to hosting National Championships and they have great support from college administrators, students and the community which adds to the quality experience for the student-athletes,” said Fred Batley, CCAA Women’s Volleyball Convenor. “With the PEI flavour, Atlantic hospitality and excellent competition, the event will be an overwhelming success.”
The Hurricanes are four-time ACAA silver medalists (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019) and played host to the CCAA Championship in 2016.
Charlottetown, the Capital City of Prince Edward Island, has a long history of hosting. Student-athletes, coaches and team staff from across Canada can expect fantastic Island hospitality.
Holland, a proud member of the ACAA and CCAA since 2006, prides itself on being an excellent host. In addition to hosting the 2016 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship, the Hurricanes have also recently hosted CCAA Championships in Men’s Soccer (2018), Men’s Basketball (2017), Golf (2016) and Men’s Volleyball (2015).
The expertise and momentum generated by these events will serve the institution well.
“In keeping with our commitment to athletics and building on the success of our varsity programs, I believe hosting this tournament will serve as a superlative opportunity in our progression in intercollegiate sports,” said Dr. Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, President of Holland College.
“Building on the success of the previous national and regional championships we have hosted, we are certain that Holland College can offer a great experience for teams from across the country.”
The 2020 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship will be hosted by Cégep Garneau in Québec, QC, from March 11-14.
