Reese started playing volleyball when she was 12 and the volleyball community has always been a huge part of her life. She still enjoys playing, but has recently taken on a coaching role with the Bedford Blizzard as well as completed her referee training. Reese graduated from Citadel High School and plans to finish her degree in Child and Youth Studies at Mount St Vincent before continuing on to get her Masters in Social Work. “Over the years my coaches, referees, and teammates have pushed me to work hard in volleyball. I am so proud to receive this scholarship and very thankful to VNS for the honour”. ~ Reese MacDonald
Josh began playing volleyball in grade six playing for the Ecole de Sommet Junior High team. He would go on to win several Provincial Championships, earning All Star and MVP awards along the way. He’s featured on a number of Team NS rosters and now plays for the Université Sainte-Anne. “I am deeply honoured to have been awarded the Howard Jackson memorial bursary. My time playing with Volleyball Nova Scotia has meant so much to me and given me memories that I will remember forever. I am very appreciative of the constant support that this organization has given me over the years and was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honor.” ~ Josh Aucoin

The Howard Jackson Memorial Bursary is available to students currently attending University or College in Nova Scotia and awards two $1,000 bursaries each year to one male and one female applicant.
Howard Jackson Memorial Bursaries are awarded based on the following:
- Volleyball Referee, Player
- Financial need
- Community and volunteer involvement
- GPA of 75% or above
