MONTREAL – Audrey Odigie scored 20 points as the Ottawa Gee-Gees surprised visiting McGill 3-1 in RSEQ women’s volleyball at Montpetit Hall, Sunday. The set scores were 25-22, 25-23, 14-25 and 25-19.
It avenged McGill’s 3-0 sweep on Oct. 27 in Montreal and was only the second Gee-Gees victory in the past 21 regular season meetings against the Martlets, dating back to January 2017.
Clara Poire and Charlene Robitaille reached double digits for McGill, with 16 and 14 points, respectively, while Rachel Leduc added nine. Poire had 14 kills, and a pair of aces, to go along with nine digs. Robitaille posted 11 kills with one ace, two stuff blocks and eight digs.
Despite only lasting four sets, the match surpassed the century mark in both kills and digs. Ottawa had the upper-hand in both kills (55-50) and digs (58-51). The Gee-Gees also had an edge in aces (10-4), blocks (11-5) and assists (51-44).
McGill (4-3) returns to the court on Nov. 10 when first-place Sherbrooke (6-1) visits Love Competition Hall in a 6:30 p.m. tip-off. Ottawa (3-3) will host UQAM (4-2) on Nov. 11.
