Gaels outlast Waterloo in five sets, split weekend series

Queen’s Men’s Volleyball got back in the winning column in the final game of the regular season, outlasting the host Waterloo Warriors 3-2 (12-25, 25-16, 16-25, 25-22, 15-13) Saturday night in Waterloo, Ont.

Twice the Gaels came back in the five-set win, bouncing back from a rough first set to tie the game, and again forcing a deciding set in the fourth.

Erik Siksna led the way for Queen’s in the win, recording a game-high 15 kills while also adding nine digs, two assists, and two aces.

Lachlan McBride had a strong game for the Gaels as well, finishing with eight kills and 10 digs, while Cole Duncanson recorded six kills and five blocks.

With the win, Queen’s finished the regular season with an 11-9 record. The Gaels sit provisionally sixth in the OUA standings but will await the rest of the weekend matches to settle their playoff seeding.

The OUA will release the playoff schedule early next week.
