KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 20, 2024) – Queen’s Men’s Volleyball will enter the OUA Forsyth Cup Playoffs as the No. 2 seed after finishing the year with a 15-5 record.
The Gaels were tied in the OUA standings with both the Brock Badgers and Guelph Gryphons, but earned the No. 2 seed by virtue of a tiebreaker.
Queen’s will host the No. 7 seed Toronto Varsity Blues in the quarterfinals on Friday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC). Tickets for the game are on sale now and can be purchased at the gate or online at the Queen’s Gaels Tickets Website.
The Gaels met the Varsity Blues for a doubleheader in early January, with Toronto winning both matchups, 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-17) and 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 27-25).
Queen’s Men’s Volleyball’s Erik Siksna (Markham, Ont.) enters the OUA Playoffs having finished third in the conference in hitting percentage (.339), sixth in kills per set (3.50), and ninth in total kills (217).
Chris Zimmerman (Prince George, B.C.) finished seventh in the conference in assists per set (8.83) and eighth in total assists (609).
And Lhexen Rabit (Hamilton, Ont.) was tied for seventh in total digs (129) and 10th in digs per set (1.87).
Queen’s Men’s Volleyball is also hosting the U SPORTS Men’s Volleyball Championship from March 14-17. Queen’s will welcome the best university men’s volleyball teams in the country to the ARC and tickets are on sale now at the Queen’s Gaels Tickets Website.
