KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 27, 2024) – Queen’s Men’s Volleyball falls to McMaster in 3 sets (14-25, 23-25, 19-25) Saturday night at the ARC.

Queen’s suffered a tough defeat against McMaster in three sets, marking their first home loss of the season. Despite the Gaels’ best efforts, the Marauders were determined to bounce back from their defeat yesterday and claim a victory.

Erik Siksna recorded 9 kills, while Zig Licis and Reed Venning added 8 and 5 kills, respectively, to the scoreboard. Venning also added 5 blocks, supported by Dax Tompkins with 4 blocks and Licis with 2.

“We couldn’t find our edge tonight. They’re a really good team and we just happened to get their best night,” Coach Gabe DeGroot stated in a post-game interview. “The message here is that winning is really hard, and that’s the reality of playing in this league. We’ll have to learn from this so we can win in March at Nationals.”

With the loss, the Gaels’ record fell to 10-4 . Queen’s is on the road for their next match against the Nippising Lakers Friday, February 2nd, at 8:00 PM in North Bay, Ont.
