Gaels enter OUA Quigley Cup Playoffs as No. 2 seed after historic season

KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 20, 2024) – Queen’s Women’s Volleyball enter the OUA Quigley Cup Playoffs as the No. 2 seed after a program record season.

After their weekend sweep of the Western Mustangs, the Gaels finished the regular season with an 18-2 record, their best in program history. Queen’s previous high in wins and best record came in the 1979-80 season, when they finished 14-2.

The Gaels will host their quarterfinals matchup against the No. 7 seed Nipissing Lakers on Friday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC). Tickets for the game are on sale now and can be purchased at the door or on the Queen’s Gaels Tickets Website.

The Gaels’ Hannah Duchesneau (Sharon, Ont.) finished in the Top 5 in the conference in a number of categories. Duchesneau was fifth in the OUA in kills per set (3.60), total kills (241), and hitting percentage (.288). 

Amanda Siksna (Markham, Ont.) led all players in the conference in blocks per set (1.15) and was second in total blocks (75).

And Shea Baker (Vancouver, B.C.), who eclipsed the 1,000 total assist mark this season, finished second in the conference in assists per set (8.72), and was fifth in total assists (567).
