Gaels beat No. 2 seed Western in straight sets to advance to OUA semifinals

Queen’s Women’s Volleyball defeated the No. 2 seed Western Mustangs in straight sets (25-23, 25-22, 25-21) on the road in London, Ont. in the OUA quarterfinals.

With the win, the Gaels advanced to the OUA semifinals.

While all three sets were close, Queen’s managed to come out ahead each time for the big win and now sit just one win away from playing for the Quigley Cup.

Mary Stewart was solid for the Gaels all game, finishing with a team-high 11 kills while also adding 10 digs and five blocks.

Hannah Duchesneau finished with nine kills, nine digs, and two aces. And Arielle Palermo added five kills and 13 digs.

The Gaels’ Shea Baker finished with a game-high 30 assists while Amanda Siksna led the team with nine blocks.

Queen’s will play in the OUA semifinals on Saturday, March 4 with a berth in the Quigley Cup final on the line.
