The Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team defeated a nationally ranked team for the third time this season.
In a rematch of last night’s 3-1 contest in favour of the Badgers, Brock was able to continue their winning ways with a 3-0 sweep (25-23, 25-20, 25-21) over the No. 8 McMaster Mauraders on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Fourth-year outside hitter Emily Foest led all players with 10 digs and 18 points off 17 kills and one block.
In the first set, after going down 10-6 and calling a timeout, the Badgers took the lead with a 9-3 run to go up by two which they would ride out to win a tight first set 25-23.
A .286 hitting percentage in the second set helped the Badgers take a 25-20 victory.
In an even more impressive third frame, Brock notched 20 kills on 43 attempts with just six errors for a .326 hitting percentage. Foest had seven of her 17 kills in the set including the final point that came off a Marauders’ block that gave the Badgers a 25-21 win and the sweep.
Hitting percentage wise, the Badgers had the upper hand, finishing with a .299 percentage compared to .218 from the visitors while blocks were even as both teams had five.
Mackenna Knox, a second-year setter, led all players with 41 assists.

Brock’s previous matchup with Ottawa came all the way back on Nov. 20, 2015, when they lost in five sets (25-20, 20-25, 25-13, 14-25, 7-15). The last time the Gee-Gees were in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference was during the 2015-2016 season.
