The College of the Rockies Avalanche women’s team are going to use the holiday break to get back to fundamentals and refocus in hopes of coming out strong in the second half of the season.  They won twice in the first semester and will look to those matches to build confidence.

One of the highlights from the first semester included defeating the defending PACWEST champion Camosun Chargers in Victoria.  The match was their fourth in as many days to end their first grueling road trip to the Island.  They would sweep the Chargers 26-24, 25-15 and 27-25 as the athletes came alive during that match ending the long road trip with a victory.

Another highlight was their final road trip of the first semester to Capilano as they flew from Cranbrook to Vancouver to meet the Blues.  The trip was more than just a couple of volleyball matches as the team took public transit across Vancouver and had some great team bonding experiences that they would not have had otherwise.  The coaching staff is hoping this time to bond will improve the team’s chemistry heading into the second semester of play.

The Avalanche will be right back on the road for the first weekend of play in the second half. They will head to Douglas for a date with the Royals on Friday January 12th trying to replicate their exciting come from behind, five set thriller on November 4th when they won the fourth set 27-25, then the fifth 17-15. After this trip to Douglas, they will play four in a row on their home floor.
