Excalibur Student-Athletes Reach OUA Career Milestone with 1000 Assists
Trent Excalibur student-athletes Aly Saydam (Ottawa, ON), men’s volleyball and Isabelle Pellerine (Halifax, NS), women’s volleyball, both reached 1000 assists in their Ontario University Athletics (OUA) careers this weekend.
Isabelle, a fourth-year Kinesiology student, joined the team in her first year and has been an asset to the team from the beginning.
“This achievement is a testament to Isabelle’s remarkable vision, leadership, and relentless drive for excellence,” said Rebecca Van Staalduinen, lead assistant coach, women’s volleyball. “Always striving to improve, Isabelle sets the standard both on and off the court, inspiring her teammates to elevate their own performances. Her ability to unite the team and create opportunities exemplifies her dedication to the team and where the program is heading in the future.”
Aly, a third-year Kinesiology student started with the Excalibur men’s volleyball team in 2022 and quickly cemented himself as a pivotal member of the team.
“Aly’s OUA career with the Trent University Men’s Volleyball Team has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Colin Walker, head coach, men’s volleyball. “Now in his third year, Aly has grown into a cornerstone of the team, both as a skilled athlete and as a leader. Reaching 1,000 career assists in just 2.5 seasons is a testament to his consistency, vision, and precision on the court. His contributions have not only been pivotal in the team’s development but have also set a standard of excellence for those around him. Aly’s dedication and performance are a true reflection of his passion for the game and commitment to the Trent volleyball program.”
The men’s and women’s volleyball team will play their final game of the year this weekend in Waterloo. Both teams will resume the season on January 17 at home, hosting Western.
