DURHAM ATTACK VOLLEYBALL CLUB PARTNERS WITH MOMENTUM VOLLEYBALL WITH HISTORIC STEP FORWARD IN TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT

Published on

The Durham Attack Volleyball Club (DA) announced Tuesday a historic partnership with Momentum Volleyball that will provide members with significant technical resources for the development of its coaches and athletes.

“As we continue to modernize the Club, it is important to create meaningful partnerships that not only provides Durham Attack members with added value, but also increases our capacity in delivering technical programming for the growth of our athletes and coaches,” said Jason Stanat, vice-president, Junior Programs, Durham Attack Volleyball Club. “We are so excited to work with Momentum Volleyball. This is a big step forward for the Club. Our coaches and athletes will be provided with additional resources along their development pathway, and have access to exclusive content by some of Canada’s best volleyball minds.”

Momentum is led by two very familiar names in Canadian volleyball: Michael Amoroso and Parrish Offer. A member of the Ontario Volleyball Board of Directors, Amoroso is a retired professional volleyball player who also represented Canada on the junior national team and was a standout student-athlete at Queen’s University. He was a professional coach at The York School and continues to serve as a coach for Team Ontario. Many Durham Attack members will remember Parrish Offer, who was a guest speaker at this year’s inaugural Post Secondary Information Session. Offer serves on the Volleyball Canada Board of Directors, also played volleyball professionally, and was a member of the Jamaican national team following a successful university career playing at McMaster University. He was an assistant coach for his alma mater and also served on the Team Ontario coaching staff.

“We are excited to be partnering with Durham Attack, working with some of the best coaches, teams, and athletes in Canada,” said Parrish Offer, Chief Technology Officer, Momentum Volleyball. “We believe by combining strong technical direction with digital resources we can have a strong impact on the Club.”

In 2018, Momentum started elite camps in small communities, bringing professional athletes, coaches and resources to underserved regions. In 2020, Momentum launched an exciting new venture in professional media and digital content, with that same goal of extending the reach of volleyball to every region in the country. Today, Momentum Volleyball continues to grow with youth and adult programs while expanding its impact on the game through professional content and resources.

In addition to providing technical direction for the Club, Momentum Volleyball will be creating exclusive content and volleyball resources for Durham Attack that aligns with the Volleyball Canada Long Term Athlete Development Model, while sharing current trends in volleyball development. Durham Attack is the first volleyball club in Canada to officially partner with Momentum Volleyball.

““We are excited to be partnered with this historic club, to provide value through education, training & technology,” said Michael Amoroso, founder and president, Momentum Volleyball. “Durham Attack has been one of the most successful clubs in Ontario and throughout Canada, and we are honoured to be part of that continued success!”

An introductory virtual meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. Durham Attack coaches will get an opportunity to meet members of Momentum Volleyball and asks questions as teams prepare for the final half of the 2022-23 season. Meeting details will be sent to coach email addresses in the coming days.
