CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women’s volleyball team (4-10) hosts the University of Alberta Pandas (13-1) in their last home games of the regular season.
The action begins Friday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m., followed by another match on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Jack Simpson Gym.
SENIOR SENDOFF
Three Dinos players will be playing their final regular-season games in the Jack Simpson Gym this weekend. Marina Culo, Julia Sprentz and Kenzie Vaandering all will be recognized over the weekend for their outstanding volleyball careers with the Dinos.
RISING ROOKIE
First-year middle Sheridan Coninx has reinforced the Dinos defence late in the season. She has tallied at least one rejection in all 14 games on the year, leading the team with 40 total blocks on the season. That number also has her tied for sixth-most in Canada West. However, Coninx’s production doesn’t end on the defensive side, as she also leads the Dinos in service aces with 13.
A PEEK AT THE PLAYOFFS
With just four games left in the regular season, Calgary currently sits firmly in third place in the Central Division. That would send them into “Pool A” in the playoff formatting, which would be hosted by the West Division winner – currently Trinity Western. This year’s Canada West Playoffs are scheduled to commence Friday, March 4.
