WINNIPEG – Winnipeg hit .463 for the match to go with seven service aces in a 3-0 sweep of the Calgary Dinos men’s volleyball team Saturday afternoon from the Duckworth Centre.

Reigning Canada West Player of the Week Isaiah Olfert led all players with 15 kills on the day on just 26 swings. Luke Lodewyks also finished in double digits with kills on the day with 11 for Winnipeg to go with a game-high nine digs.

Louis Kunstmann led the way for Calgary with six kills and three digs.

Calgary held a 12-10 lead in the first set after a kill from Erik Godwin. But, the Wesmen were able to answer back – getting things rolling and finishing the frame on a 15-1 run.

Things carried over to the start of the second as Winnipeg jumped out to a 4-1 early edge. A solo block by Jackson Meier kept things close at 15-12 and a kill by Cole Czepuryk made it 22-18 but the Dinos just couldn’t get over the hump in at 25-18 loss.

Calgary kept things close once again in the third. An ace from Kunstmann capped a 3-0 spurt to make it a one-point game at 10-9 and another ace from Meier kept the Dinos within one at 15-14. But Winnipeg got hot down the stretch and finished things off on a 7-1 run.

With the win, the Wesmen move to 4-0 on the year, while the Dinos drop to 1-3.

Calgary now has a week to regroup before returning to the court Nov. 8-9 for a Crowchild Classic showdown with Mount Royal from the Jack Simpson Gym.
