BRANDON, Man. – Friday left the Bobcats with plenty of optimism but Saturday was one to forget. The Bobcats were beat in straight sets 25-16, 25-15, 25-7 in the second half of the weekend series at the HLC.
After a great showing in Friday’s loss, the Bobcats will look to re-group following Saturday.
“I think a lot of the fatigue and the newness just for everybody being on the court for the first time really contributed to how we were feeling,” said Marly Pellerin.
This weekend saw four Bobcats make their first Canada West starts in new positions, but the adversity hasn’t hindered their drive.
“I think the girls have been really good in coming together and always remaining as a unit and still wanting it, still driving for that win and working hard on every play and never letting up on any play.”
The Dinos improved from Friday’s marathon win right from the start on Saturday, hitting .435 in the first to go with five aces.
The Bobcats improved on the team’s .048 attack rate in the first to .148 in the second, but the Dinos hit .312.
The third was all Calgary, as the Dinos started the set on a 13-2 run before leading by as much as 22-4 before closing it out.
Sophie Reed led the Dinos in multiple categories, finishing the night with 10 kills, five aces and nine digs.
Sheridan Coninx had a team-high three blocks while Stella Rains had a match-high 22 assists.
