CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women’s volleyball team is looking to rebound this weekend with a pair of games against the MacEwan University Griffins.
Both matches will be played at home court in the Jack Simpson Gym. The first serve is at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by a 6:30 p.m. game on Saturday.
RECAP
The Dinos are in search of their first win of the season, after dropping their opening series to their cross-town rival, the Mount Royal Cougars. MacEwan is on the hunt for their first win of the season, as well, after losing to the Alberta Pandas in straight sets at home last weekend.
A DAZZLING DEBUT
Despite the Dinos 0-2 record, first-year outside hitter Sophie Reed has established herself on the floor quickly, recording 17 kills and 15 digs in her Dinos debut.
MAKING AN IMPACT
Second-year setter Stella Rains has contributed in all facets of the game, tallying up 44 assists, 15 digs, six kills, three blocks, and one service ace in the first two games of the year.
BIGGS VERSUS BRIGGS
First-year Dinos head coach Christine Biggs will look to win her first game with Calgary against MacEwan head coach Ken Briggs. Briggs has coached the Griffins women’s volleyball team since 2002.

Player to Watch: Second-year outside hitter Mariah Bereziuk leads the Griffins in kills and digs with 14 each this season.

UP NEXT
