Defending Champion T-Birds advance after downing host McMaster 3-1 in U SPORTS quarter-final

HAMILTON (U SPORTS) – Third-year outside hitter and 2024 U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian, Lucy Borowski, tallied double-digit kills during the UBC Thunderbirds’ 3-1 victory (25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 25-18) over the host McMaster Marauders in the third quarter-final game of the 2024 U SPORTS Women’s Volleyball Championship in Burridge Gymnasium.


 
Borowski had a game high 16 kills for a .333 percentage and added 14 digs. Teammates Issy Robertshaw added 38 assists and 10 digs, while Akash Grewal chipped in with 13 kills and 16 digs in the win. Demonstrative plays at the net was the difference between the two teams, with the T-Birds recording 54 kills while limiting the Marauders to just 43.
 

Sullie Sundara led the way for McMaster with 15 kills while also contributing 12 digs and a service ace.


 
With the win, the U SPORTS defending national champion and No. 2 seed T-Birds advances to the semifinals and will play the winner of Quarterfinal #4 between No. 3 ranked Brock and No. 6 seed Acadia at 5:00 p.m. PT on Saturday March, 16. McMaster will take on the loser of Quarterfinal #4 in the consolation round on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. PT.
