TORONTO – The Rams women’s volleyball team will be playing for their first win of the season this Saturday, when they take the court against cross-city rivals the Toronto Varsity Blues at Goldring Centre.
The team took a tough 3-1 loss last weekend to the York Lions, who currently lead the OUA East while the Rams sit in last.
Still, the Rams were able to snag the second set out of the top opponent in the division, giving the Lions’ their first set loss of the season. The Rams also led at the beginning of the last set and nearly held York out long enough to tie the game, but ultimately faced a disappointing defeat.
Proving to be not without talent and simply lacking a bit of polish on the attack, the Rams are three losses in and hungry for a victory from the Blues, who have only played one game so far with their 1-0 record.
The team’s history against Toronto over recent years has involved back-and-forth wins and losses, with the Rams coming out celebratory in six out of the last ten matches between the two.
A win on Saturday could provide not just another victory for the books, but a confidence that the Rams could use going forward into the rest of the season as well.
First serve flies from Toronto’s Goldring Centre at 2 p.m. and the game can be live streamed at OUA.tv.
