Sam Cooper has been named to the Canadian Senior National Team for the Volleyball Nations League (VNL).
Cooper had an outstanding season, playing 41 sets over 12 matches. Cooper ranked first for service aces with 36 total, for 0.88 service aces per set. Cooper also ranked top ten in total points (2nd) with 185.5 points, points per set (3rd) with 4.5 points per set, total attacks (5th) with 292 attacks, and total kills (6th) with 131, averaging 3.20 kills per set.
Cooper was a major asset to the Marauders this season with the team finishing as OUA champions and placing fifth at the U SPORTS Championship.
Cooper’s exceptional season earned him OUA West First-Team All-Star and U-Sports Second-Team All-Canadian honors.
This will be the fourth year of the VNL, an international volleyball tournament that features the best 16 men’s and 16 women’s teams. The tournament runs from June 7th to July 24th 2022 with the first leg taking place in Ottawa, Canada. Finals will take place July 20-24. Rosters for the tournament are set to be announced shortly.
