For the second time in three seasons the Camosun Chargers are PACWEST bronze medalists after an impressive four-set victory over the Douglas Royals.

It would be the Royals that opened the match with a 25-18 victory behind the strong play of Anna von Krosigk and Ashley Rafferty. Von Krosigk would finish the match with nine kills and four aces.

However, that momentum the Royals enjoyed was taken away by the Chargers in the second set with the insertion of rookie Edyn VanBrabant who was an instant sparkplug.  Her confidence built throughout the match and gave them another option offensively, so they didn’t have to rely on Erica Bolink.  The Chargers took the second set 25-15 and never looked back.

On the offensive side VanBrabant finished with 16 kills and two aces with Bolink adding 11.  On the service line the Chargers would deflate the Royals collecting 17 aces, eight of which coming from fifth year senior Brook Ure.

The Chargers took the next two sets 25-23 and 25-16 to claim their third PACWEST bronze in school history.

VanBrabant was named Player of the Match for the Chargers while Rafferty in her final PACWEST match won it for the Royals with five digs, three kills and countless digs.
