CCAA Championship Game: Camosun Chargers 3, Humber Hawks 0
The Camosun Chargers successfully defended their title, becoming back-to-back National Champions after defeating the host Humber Hawks in straight sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-20).
The Chargers controlled the first set, maintaining a wire-to-wire lead to grab the momentum early. Cam McDonald had a strong first set for Camosun finishing with four points on two kills, one black and an ace.
The second was a tightly contested set, Camosun was able to keep Humber from taking a late lead to grab a commanding 2-0 lead. Eduardo Bida had a team-high four points in the set, coming of two kills and two aces.
Humber fell behind early in the third set giving up four straight points leading to a timeout. As was the case all night the Chargers never let the Hawks back into the set completing the sweep to capture CCAA Gold.
Lucas Maffia was named the 4imprint Player of the Match for Camosun finishing with 21 assists, eight digs, and four kills. Jaskarn Kalsi was named the 4imprint Player of the Match for Humber recording seven kills and one block.
Bronze Medal Match: Briercrest Clippers 3, VIU Mariners 0
The Briercrest Clippers earned the CCAA bronze with a straight sets victory over the VIU Mariners (25-22, 27-25, 25-19).
The Clippers All-Canadian Karym Coleman was a standout in the first set. Coleman recorded six kills in the frame, helping his side to grab the set.
The second set went down to the wire, with Briercrest taking the set in extras. Noah Dirsten was terrific for the Clippers at the line, picking up three aces in the set, including set point.
Briercrest put together an impressive 10-4 run to close out the third set taking the match in straight sets.
The 4imprint Player of the Match for Briercrest was Jeremy Martins who finished with 31 assists, eight digs, two kills, one ace and one block. Phillip Trietel was named the 4imprint Player of the Match for VIU recording six kills, six digs and two block.
