VIU Mariners @ Camosun Chargers – Thursday February 9. 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
It’s a rare Thursday night PACWEST volleyball match when the top ranked Chargers host the third seeded Mariners for the final time this season. This is the first half of the home-and-home this weekend.
The Chargers have been red hot this season and have won seven in a row, dropping just two sets over this stretch. They are the top team in the country and will play their final home match of the campaign on Thursday. They haven’t seen VIU since the first weekend of the season when they won back-to-back matches by four sets. The Chargers have already clinched the top seed heading into the PACWEST championship tournament at the end of February.
On the other side the Mariners have split their matches since the calendar changed to 2023. Last weekend for example they lost their first match in a fifth set thriller on their home floor, then came back the next night and won in a sweep. This will be their final road match before the playoffs as they try and hold onto the third spot in the standings and avoid a semi-final match-up with the Chargers two weeks later.
