Match 9: Sainte-Anne Dragons 3, Providence Pilots 1
The Sainte-Anne Dragons picked up a hard-fought victory over the Providence Pilots in four sets (17-25, 25-23, 25-16, 29-27).
Providence showcased their depth in the opening set. Six different Pilots players recorded at least two points in the first on route to the win.
The Dragons responded taking the next three sets with Alec Cottreau and Louis-Philippe LeBlanc leading the way. Cottreau and LeBlanc combined for 25-points in the last three sets to pace the Dragons attack.
The 4imprint Player of the Match for Sainte-Anne was Olivier Rutherford who put up eight kills, two digs, two aces and two blocks. Arturo Duran Tosta was named the 4imprint Player of the Match for Providence finishing with 12 kills, six digs, one ace and one block.
Match 10: VIU Mariners 3, Fanshawe Falcons 1
In the first of two bronze semi-finals on the day, the VIU Mariners defeated the Fanshawe Falcons in four sets (14-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-18).
The Falcons came out firing in the first on way to a convincing set win. Jayden Crowther was a force for Fanshawe in the set recording six kills and a block.
The second set was a complete reversal as VIU controlled the play from start to finish to tie things up at one set each. Rylan Van Kooten led his team with four kills in the second set.
The Mariners once again took control of the third set, opening up with a 5-0 run to force a timeout. That would prove too much for the Falcons to overcome as they dropped the third.
The fourth was tight early on, but a 12-4 run for VIU in the middle stages blew the set open. The Mariners kept their foot on the gas closing out the set on way to advancing to the bronze medal game.
Rylan Van Kooten was named the 4imprint Player of the Match for VIU finishing with eight kills, seven digs, one ace and one block. Jayden Crowther was named the 4imprint Player of the Match for Fanshawe recording 13 kill two digs, one assists and one block. Sebastion Lethbridge of the Fanshawe Falcons was named a first-team tournament all-star after the game.
Match 11: Briercrest Clippers 3, Volontaires De Sherbrooke 1
In the second bronze-semi final matchup of the day, the Briercrest Clippers came out victorious over the Volontaires De Sherbrooke in four sets (15-25, 25-16, 28-26, 25-22).
The Volontaires were dominant in the second set as the Clippers struggled with errors early in the match.
Briercrest would bounce back to tie the match up taking the second set. Jackson Anderson was a standout for the Clippers in the set picking up four points.
The Clippers fell behind early in the third bought fought back to tie things up at 18. Briercrest would fall behind by two in the late stages but pulled of the comeback taking the set in extras.
The fourth was another tight set, as both sides sat tied at 21 points. Clippers had more answers down the stretch as they took the match in four sets to advance to the bronze medal match against VIU.
The 4imprint Player of the Match for Briercrest was Jackson Anderson who put up 11 kills, 13 digs, one block, one ace and one assist. Xavier Turgeon was named the 4imprint Player of the Match for Sherbrooke finishing with 19 digs and one assist.
