April 8, 2024: The Canadian pair of Jake MacNeil and Alex Russell defeated the USA’s Evan Cory/Wyatt Harrison 2-1 (16-21, 21-17,15-11) on Sunday to win gold at the first stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour 2024 at Güibia beach, on the Santo Domingo boardwalk in Dominican Republic.
The bronze went to Tim Brewster/Kyle Friend, also of the United States, who defeated the pair of Hayerling De Jesús/Oscar Martínez from the Dominican Republic 2-1 (20-22, 21-13, 15-8). Fifth place went another Canadian pair, Arran Chambers/Steven Abrams, who beat Ricardo Galindo/Isaías Aguirre of Mexico 2-0 (21-14, 21-12).
In the match for fifth place on the women’s side, Esperanza Albarrán/Evelyn Ramos of Mexico defeated Dana Roskic/Calinda Kok of Canada 2-0 (21-17, 21-19), and fellow Canadians Kristina Vlcek/Claire Crossfield finished 13th overall.
