LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western’s Henry Rempel (Swift Current, Sask.) has been named Canada West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the weekend of February 1-3. The fourth-year outside hitter had another huge weekend, leading the No. 8 Spartans to a hard-fought 10-set split with the No. 7 UBC Thunderbirds.
Rempel opened with 21 kills and two aces in a highly entertaining 3-2 home win on Thursday. He then had a career-best 26 kills the following night, along with five digs and two aces, although it wasn’t enough as the T-Birds flipped the script with a five-set win of their own.
Rempel remains atop the CW leaderboards in many offensive categories, sitting third in kills (314), kills-per-set (4.13) and hitting percentage (.307).
Rempel and the Spartans will now be at home against the MacEwan Griffins. Game times on Friday and Saturday are set for 7 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
