June 13, 2024: Canada’s women’s sitting volleyball team is in France this week for the World ParaVolley Super Six, held until June 16 in Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy.
This high-level tournament features six of the eight women’s teams set to compete in Paris at the Paralympic Games in August, providing a preview of the competition between hosts France, Brazil, Canada, China, Italy and United States.
So far Canada is 1-1 after a loss to China 0-3 (19-25, 13-25, 16-25) in the opener; and a decisive win over host France 0-3 (9-25, 8-25, 11-25).
Team Captain Danielle Ellis (White Rock, BC) said: “It was a tough loss in our first match against China on Tuesday, but we are trusting the process and it was really exciting to be able to work through some things in our match against France last night that will help us on our path to the podium in Paris later this summer.”
Canada next plays Italy on Thursday.
The sitting volleyball events at Paris 2024 will take place between August 29 and September 7, 2024.
